Thursday Morning Wisconsin Sports Report

Posted Thursday, January 5, 2012 --- 7:55 a.m.

Here is the latest Wisconsin sports news from The Associated Press:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- No. 9 Georgetown rallied from a 17-point deficit last night to beat No. 20 Marquette 73-70. Hollis Thompson hit a tiebreaking three-pointer with less than 30 seconds left to cap a Hoyas' comeback. Darius Johnson-Odom scored 18 points for the Golden Eagles, who lost for the third time in five games.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin officials say a discrepancy between two game clocks at the end of Tuesday's game against Michigan State was caused by a signal delay. Ryan Evans hit an apparent game-tying three-point in overtime, but the shot was disallowed after officials determined he released it after time expired. Officials say the backboard clock is official and was working properly.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- Green Bay Packers receiver Greg Jennings appears to be on target to return for the playoffs. Jennings was back at practice yesterday after missing the last three games of the regular season with a torn MCL. Jennings says he was able to run routes against the defense yesterday.

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Casinos in Las Vegas have given the Green Bay Packers the best odds to repeat as Super Bowl champions. Oddsmakers at Cantor Gaming have the Pack as 9-5 favorites. Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos are 120-1 underdogs to win the big game.
