EXERCISE will now be a little easier for adults with intellectual disabilities.
Mounties, in partnership with The Junction Works, has come up with a tailored program for adults with an intellectual disability.
The program gives participants access to the M1 health and fitness centre at the Mounties club in Mt Pritchard and to their own personalised fitness pro- gram. The program, called Work Out, runs over 12 weeks and will initially help 12 adults between the ages of 20 and 30.
Mounties president Kevin Ingram said: "We hope the Work Out program will improve the participants' quality of life and help them to partake in everyday activities such as going to the gym with little or no stress."
The program teaches the participants about gym equipment and etiquette, provides personal training and group exercise classes and develops individualised exercise programs.
Junction Works chief executive officer Chris Campbell hopes to expand the program.
"It is important that people with disabilities are able to participate in our community like everyone else," he said. "Sometimes this needs understanding and support from others."
